After wrapping up the 2010 POPRA Season as the Cat Lite High Points Champion, it was off to Lake Havasu for the 4th Annual Lake Havasu Grand Prix. The weather was cold and rainy but the racing was hot. The racing consisted of two 30 mile heats on Friday and one 60 mile heat on Saturday. We had a few minor issues in the first heat with losing a sensor on the motor and tearing up a set of props on some rocks pulling out of the harbor, but we still gave it our all and finished third behind Team Horizon and World Champion Team AMSOIL. We fixed the sensor problem and borrowed set of props from Bob Teague and headed out for the second heat on Friday. The boat ran great. We battled it out with the Horizon boat but in the end, with only 5 laps, we ran out of time trying to get around them and track down the AMSOIL boat. On Saturday, we made some adjustments with the help of Bob Teague and were ready to go. The green flag dropped and we blew the doors off of the competition. We had the lead from the start all the way to turn 2 and then the AMSOIL boat, carrying more speed on the outside out ran us to the 3rd turn. On lap 2 a lightning bolt hit the water in front of us and the race was blacked flagged. Two hours later we resumed racing. We found ourselves baatling Team Horizon on the inside of us and Team AMSOIL on the outside of us. On lap 4 we made our move and got around the Horizon boat and spent the next 6 laps tracking down the AMSOIL boat. Again, we ran out time. It was a great day of racing. Any day racing is better than a day working, right? I couldn’t have done it without the help of Justin Jones of Who’s Racing and Bob Teague of Team AMSOIL. Without their help, we wouldn’t have made the race. On a side note, it was great to see my sponsor, “Mr. Gatorz Eyewear”, Kerry Lynch, one of the coolest guys that I know, enjoying himself as a judge in the Pirate Cove Bikini Contest. Thanks for all of your support to the team Kerry, you’re the best.

Next stop……Long Beach, July 16th. We’ll see you at the race.

As always, “Thanks for the support”
