This year the Poker Run has been moved to Friday to relieve much of the weekend boater congestion we have encountered in past events. Having the poker run on Friday provides an opportunity to add a long requested activity to our weekend. A speed trial shootout patterned after the famous Lake Rescue Shootout of Lake of the Ozarks will occur on Saturday. To even further the fun and excitement, POPRA, the Pacific Offshore Professional Racing Association has placed us on their schedule and will be racing during a break in the Shootout action on Saturday. Add that to the addition of the Offshore Super Series race on Sunday, this should be wild weekend. For more information see the Desert Storm Poker Run web page

Long Beach Offshore Powerfest - (Long Beach, California) |

The Powerfest includes the following four events: Catalina Ski Club “Special Needs Children’s Day, 60th Annual Long Beach/Catalina Ski Race, Long Beach/Catalina/Long Beach Jet Ski Race and the 97th Anniversary Offshore Powerboat Race. This Year’s weekend will start on Thursday July 17th with The Marine Aftermarket Performance Expo. Also known as Powerfest ‘08 will run from 3:00-11:00 on Pine Avenue. This weekend will be full of fun and excitement.

San Diego BayFair - (San Diego, California) |

The Traveling Circus that is the POPRA is moving the road show to San Diego. The BayFair is a non-stop boat racing from morning until night. The weekends events start with the traveling circus arriving on Thursday and getting the pits layed out. Friday consists of a Kilo-Run in between two practice sessions. Saturday has heats 1 and 2 and a Driver / Throttleman autograph session. Sunday is opening ceremonies with Heat 3 and the Finals just before the Unlimited Hydro’s. What a great weekend. Be sure to come out and rub elbows with some of the CRAZY Offshore Teams. (Schedule of Events)
